On September 30th, two exchange students from partner universities and two students from the Shizuoka Prefecture Short-term Student Exchange Program paid a courtesy visit to President Yasuyuki Imai of University of Shizuoka.
President Imai welcomed the students, saying, "Even though your stay in Japan will be short, I hope you'll take the opportunity not only to study but also to experience the nature and culture of Shizuoka."
The exchange students then introduced themselves, partly speaking in Japanese. One student from Zhejiang Province in China said, "I love Japanese anime, and I'm majoring in animation at my home university. While I'm in Japan, I'd like to visit Akihabara, the center of anime culture in Japan."
The conversation was lively, touching on topics such as their home universities and the differences between Japanese and other languages. A faculty member encouraged the students to enjoy Shizuoka's famous tea, oranges, and hot springs, which sparked curiosity. One student eagerly asked, "Are there hot springs nearby?" This led to recommendations from the faculty and a joyful atmosphere filled with laughter.
Prior to the courtesy visit, the students had participated in events such as "Conversation Partner Exchange Meeting" and "Tea Ceremony". These activities provided them with a great start to their study abroad journey.
The exchange students will be attending classes at the university for up to six months.
