On October 28, Dr. Piyaporn Chueamchaitrakun, Head of the Tea and Coffee Institute at Thailand's Mae Fah Luang University, paid a courtesy visit to President Yasuyuki Imai at the University of Shizuoka. Mae Fah Luang University recently became a partner institution in 2023, and this meeting symbolized an important step toward strengthening academic and cultural ties.
President Imai extended a warm welcome, offering Dr. Piyaporn an introduction to the University of Shizuoka's key initiatives. Dr. Piyaporn, in turn, shared details about Mae Fah Luang University's mission and the work of her Tea and Coffee Institute. Faculty members from the University of Shizuoka, including Professor Yoriyuki Nakamura, Director of the Tea Science Center, engaged in a lively exchange on their respective tea-focused research. To commemorate the occasion, Dr. Piyaporn presented a gift of white tea to President Imai.
In December, students from Mae Fah Luang University are scheduled to visit the University of Shizuoka for tourism fieldwork, organized by Associate Professor Dr. Amnaj Khaokhrueamuang from the University of Shizuoka's School of Management and Informatics. Going forward, both universities aim to deepen their partnership through collaborative tea-centered projects and cultural exchanges.
