On December 10, seven students and one faculty member from Mae Fah Luang University in Thailand paid a courtesy visit to President Yasuyuki Imai at the University of Shizuoka. The visit marked the start of their tourism fieldwork program, led by Associate Professor Amnaj Khaokhrueamuang from the School of Management and Informatics of the University of Shizuoka, and Dr. Athitaya Pathan, the School of Management of Mae Fah Luang University.
The visit began with a warm welcome from President Imai, followed by an overview of the University of Shizuoka presented by the International Affairs Office. During the lively discussion, participants enjoyed conversations about Japanese autumn leaves and Shizuoka's famous wasabi, creating a warm atmosphere.
The visiting students expressed their enthusiasm for exploring Japanese culture, indicating that “We are excited to try the tea ceremony and to explore Japanese traditions.”
During their stay in Japan between December 10 to 18, the group will attend classes alongside with University of Shizuoka students and visit key locations such as the Port of Shimizu and the Mt. Fuji World Heritage Center. The program focuses on tea tourism and gastronomy tourism, providing unique opportunities to experience Japan's rich cultural heritage and innovative tourism industries.
The University of Shizuoka is delighted to host this international exchange, fostering deeper connections and cultural understanding between Thailand and Japan.
