Students from the School of Management and Informatics and the Graduate School of Management and Informatics and Innovation present at the 15th Japan-Korea Joint Seminar

The 15th Joint Seminar of Business and Culture between Japan and Korea (the “15th Joint Seminar”) was held over two days, from February 10 to 11, 2026, at the Kitakyushu International Conference Center.

A total of ten universities participated in this year’s seminar. From Korea, the participating institutions included Kyungpook National University, Pukyong National University, and Inha University. From Japan, the participants were Hitotsubashi University, Osaka Metropolitan University, Ube National College of Technology, Sugiyama Jogakuen University, Senshu University, Bunkyo University, and the University of Shizuoka.

The University of Shizuoka served as the organizing institutions of the seminar in cooperation with the other participating universities.

A joint team from the School of Management and Informatics and the Graduate School of Management and Information Innovation at the University of Shizuoka participated and delivered a presentation in English titled “Text Analysis of Sustainability Disclosure.” The presentation addressed the growing importance of sustainability disclosure, driven by recent changes in investor behavior and the development of international standards. Using Python-based text analysis, the team examined differences in disclosure content across industries and presented findings on corporate disclosure practices.

Participating students shared their reflections:

“The Q&A session in English was more challenging than expected, but I was able to confidently present what I had prepared.”

“I was impressed by the strong presentation skills and fluent English of the Korean students.”

“Students from other Japanese universities were very energetic and proactive, which I found inspiring.”

Through continued participation in high-level international exchanges such as this seminar, students are expected to further develop cross-cultural understanding and build friendships beyond national borders, ultimately becoming individuals capable of contributing to the global community.
