On April 20, a short-term student from the University of Arizona paid a courtesy visit to President Yasuyuki Imai. President Imai welcomed the student, stating, “We hope you will take this opportunity to experience the differences between Japan and the United States.”
The student introduced themselves and spoke about their motivation for studying in Japan. During the subsequent discussion, faculty members asked a variety of questions, leading to an active and engaging exchange of views.
The student explained that the United States has three types of qualification systems, including national certifications, and that legal frameworks differ by state. As a result, it is also necessary to study the laws of the state in which one intends to work. This highlighted key differences between Japan and the United States.
The student will continue preparing for a national examination to be held in the United States in June and will remain in Japan until early May. During their stay, they will undertake practical training at the university as well as at hospitals and pharmacies in Shizuoka Prefecture.
