On September 28, seven exchange students from the partner universities paid a courtesy visit to President Yasuyuki Imai. The exchange students are from Boğaziçi University (Türkiye), the University of Valladolid (Spain), the University of Parma (Italy), and the University of the Philippines (the Philippines).
At the beginning of the visit, President Imai spoke about the differences between the academic calendars in Japan and other countries. He encouraged the students to enjoy their time in Japan and to deepen their interactions not only with Japanese students but also with students from various countries.
Following this, each exchange student introduced themselves and shared their aspirations for their time in Japan, such as “I want to improve my Japanese” and “I want to learn more about Japanese culture.”
During a conversation with faculty members who attended the visit, the students happily talked about their life in Shizuoka, including their visits to a conveyor-belt sushi restaurant, a 100-yen shop, and convenience stores with other students from their dormitory.
After the courtesy visit, the students also participated in a tea ceremony experience for international students, where they deepened their understanding of Japanese culture. The following day, a Conversation Partner event was held, providing the exchange students with another opportunity to interact with students at the university.
The exchange students are scheduled to attend classes at the University for a period of up to 12 months.
